Album Review: Primal Fear

With eight studio albums already under their belts, two live products and a best of, Primal Fear are certainly one of the most respected and admired European Heavy Metal bands. Their ninth album “Unbreakable” is due out on Friday 20th January. The target was crystal clear as producer & bassist Mat Sinner said “After touring for two years without breaks, the guys realized the fan favourites very well and we wrote an untamed, powerful and crushing album together”.
“Unbreakable” combines the skills of the strongest Primal Fear line-up ever, Ralf Scheepers on Vocals, Alex Beyrodt on Guitars, Magnus Karlsson on Guitar and Keyboards, Randy Black on Drums and Mat Sinner on Bass & Vocals.
I played the title track on my show yesterday, but you might want to check out the video for the rhythm paced metal anthem Bad Guys Wear Black which is first single of the album. Another favourite of mine is “Where Angels Die”, a nine-minute epic journey with a heavy prog approach. There’s also a wonderful ballad called “Born Again” (which I’ll include on next week’s show) and a supreb melodic/power track called “Metal Nation”.
Singer Ralf Scheepers adds: “the plan was to record an album for the fans with rough metal riffs, screaming vocals and good melodies …… and finally it became a monster – a tough ‘bang-your-head’ metal album called “Unbreakable“.
